James Robert Christian, first black Miami-Dade motorcycle officer, dies at 77

James Robert Christian, the first black graduate of the Miami-Dade Police Department’s police academy, as well as the first black officer on motorcycle and mounted patrol— aboard his beloved horse, Sandy— died of natural causes on Nov. 26.
